Here's a summary of the key events: Chapter 1: Hannah's Prayer & Samuel's Birth Elkanah & Wives: Elkanah, a man from Ramah, had two wives, Peninnah (who had children) and Hannah (who was barren). Annual Pilgrimage: Each year, they went to Shiloh to worship and sacrifice to the Lord. Hannah's Anguish: Hannah was deeply distressed by her barrenness and prayed fervently to God for a son, promising to dedicate him to the Lord.
