Habichuela con dulce, also known as sweet beans or sweet cream of beans is a Dominican dessert that is mostly made during Good Friday.

Ingredients[edit | edit source]

Procedure[edit | edit source]

  1. Blend cooked beans, including the water they cooked in, into a purée.
  2. Strain beans into a pot in order to get rid of any skins.
  3. Mix in sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, vanilla extract, salt, sugar, sweet potatoes, cinnamon sticks, and cloves.
  4. Simmer over low heat until the sweet potatoes are fully cooked. Stir occasionally so that it will not stick on the bottom.
  5. Add raisins and simmer for 10 minutes. You can also add the milk cookies if you want them to become soft.
  6. Remove beans from heat.
  7. If you want, you may remove the cinnamon sticks and cloves.
  8. Serve beans in a bowl, and add milk cookies on top. You may serve warm or chilled.
