Stafford Gambit
[edit | edit source]5.d3
[edit | edit source]White's most common move reinforces the center pawn and opens their dark square bishop. Generally, White will play passive and defensive moves while Black attempts to capitalize on their accelerated opening development.
Black will almost always play the Stafford Gambit's main line after the key move 5...Bc5.
