Family Geraniaceae
[edit | edit source]The Geraniaceae (geranium family) in New York contains the genera Erodium and Geranium. This family also contains the Pelargonium genus, which inludes many popular plants also commonly known as "geraniums," but none of which are known to survive New York winters outside.

Geranium subg. Robertium
[edit | edit source]Geranium subg. Robertium sect. Ruberta
[edit | edit source]Herb-Robert (Geranium robertianum) is considered native to both northeastern North America and Europe. Because it appears to be quite weedy, especially in wet calcareous locations, it is thought that some populations in New York may be introductions from Europe. Geranium robertianum is listed as invasive in the northwestern U.S.
