The midnight snack is a late meal eaten just before going to bed or after waking up in the middle of the night. Some people have difficulty falling asleep with an empty stomach, especially those who are not "morning people". Good midnight snacks are high-fat and high-protein foods. Morning people are likely to find that this causes discomfort rather than comfort. Midnight snack foods are usually chosen to serve one person with little preparation effort. Often, leftover food is microwaved to reheat it.
