Wikijunior:Languages

From Wikibooks, open books for an open world

This book is targeted at readers within the range of 8–12 years old. This is intended to be a basic introduction for kids to learn about different languages around the world. As a general survey, this project is more oriented to covering a large variety of languages rather than studying any particular language in depth. The goal of this project is to provide some basic language skills for younger children and introduce the idea of other languages, especially in areas where children are not exposed to some of these other languages.

In addition to the written words, spoken tools would be developed with this project. Native speakers of the languages covered would be encouraged to record their voices to be used to help with pronunciation guides, and perhaps some practice exercises that could be used, or some common children's poem or song in that language could be sampled and available for kids to hear and perhaps learn.

Section titles in the book will include languages that are usable in either daily life or future life, including various, interesting languages.

It is important for children to know and understand varieties of language because it has lot of advantages and would be helpful to them in their daily lifes

When working on this project, remember that it's aimed at children. Being understood is just as important as being accurate. Authors should concentrate on the most important concepts rather than getting wrapped up in every detail. Use technical vocabulary when you need to, but don't use big words where simpler language would work. Please review the style guide.
