- Toolserver replication error
- Tool problems on the Toolserver for English Wikibooks have now been resolved following the installation of a new server. See the toolserver journal for more information.
January 2009
- Wikibooks has a new logo
- Wikibooks' new logo, shown here, has been chosen and will be put up on the site soon. Thanks to all who submitted potential logos, and those who helped judge and improve them. Further ideas for marketing Wikibooks are welcome at Wikibooks:Reading room/General.
- Toolserver replication error
- Tools on the Toolserver for English Wikibooks will be severely out of date due to technical issues. Following maintenance on the toolserver, binlogs for s3 were deleted by mistake, breaking replication for the smaller wikis. This will be remedied when the toolserver acquires new hardware in approximately one month. See the toolserver journal for more information.
November 2008
- New Logo Process
- This has now entered the final round of voting at meta. Vote closes December 1st.
- Stable versions
- Flagged Revisions have come to Wikibooks. See Help:Article validation for details about what this means.
- Bots Policy
- Wikibooks:Bots is now a policy.
- Collections extension
- The collections extension has been installed, which allows the automatic creation of PDF and ODT files from pages, and enables print-on-demand publishing of books through PediaPress
- Stable Versions
- The stable versions extension has been installed, and community feedback about the extension is requested at WB:TECH.
October 2008
- New policy proposal
- A proposed bot policy is up for approval. All members of the community are requested to review the proposal and voice their opinion.
September 2008
- Adventist Youth Honors Answer Book
- The Adventist Youth Honors Answer Book has reached a major milestone today, 30 days shy of its third birthday: the Nature Series now has answers to every single requirement of every one of its 75 honors. Overall, there are 206 completed honors in nine categories, and 354 honors in all. It has been a tremendous amount of work, and I have enjoyed every single moment I have spent working on it. I want to thank everyone who has contributed to the project, including many on Wikipedia who don't know they contributed. I imported a lot of material from there and morphed it to suit this book's needs. At the current rate of work, I expect the book as a whole to be completed in about another three years.

- Discussion has started about enabling the FlaggedRevs Extension here on Wikibooks. All Wikibookians are encouraged to participate.

- User:Mike.lifeguard has been promoted bureaucrat.

- User:Neoptolemus' RFA has succeeded, and he is now an administrator.
- Wikibooks and Wikijunior Logos
- Logo submissions will be accepted until about the 15th of March, at which point we'll begin the next phase. The process is outlined at Meta.
January 2008
- NPOV Checking
- Laleena is heading up an effort to review all our modules tagged as NPOV violations. All users are invited to help improve these modules to comply with policy.
- Special:Userrights
- This new special page allows user rights using a single interface. The previous methods to make bots and make sysops will be depreciated once work on the user interface is complete.
- The underlying schema also allows more modular user rights. Users may now request the rollbacker and patroller rights at Wikibooks:Requests for permissions. This allows vandal fighters and new page patrollers to spread the work out over a greater number of people. See Wikibooks:User rights and Wikibooks:Reading room/General#Rollback and Patroller Rights for details.
- Gadgets Extension Installed
- The Gadgets Extension has been installed on Wikibooks. Wikibooks users can submit javascript tools, called "gadgets" for the community to use. To use these gadgets, go to the Gadgets tab at Special:Preferences.
- Wikibooks and Wikijunior Logos
- A process for choosing new logos for both Wikibooks and Wikijunior has been outlined Meta. Over a dozen logo candidates have been submitted, and more are being created regularly. All Wikibookians are invited to participate in the process.
