Detecting the interlace type of a video stream can be difficult at first, but there are a number of tools to make it easier for you.

MeGUI interlace analyser[edit | edit source]

This is the recommended method for determining the interlace type.

The MeGUI analyser can be found in the avisynth creator. Open the video file, move across to the second tab and there is the interlace detector. All you need to do is click "Analyse...", but you should check the box labelled source is anime, if it applies to you. Once it has finished, it will pop up its findings and recommended filters to produce a progressive output.
