Unfortunately, Edgeworth's search for Kay proves fruitless, so he returns to his office. Ray turns up, having already heard about the murder in the P.I.C. meeting room. Edgeworth fills him in on the events so far. Ray suggests that, since they can't find Kay, they should instead try to find out what caused her memory loss. They return to the Grand Tower to investigate.

Investigation: Grand Tower - Viewing Platform / 捜査 ~ビッグタワー・屋上展望台~[edit | edit source]

There's no one else here, giving you the freedom to investigate as much as you want. First, examine the cherry tree. Kay told you that she was standing by this tree when she was pushed. You receive the Where Kay was standing? logic (美雲の立っていた場所 Mikumo no tatte ita basho). Examine the railing near the tree. If the person in the red coat came towards Kay from the stand, it means she was pushed over this railing. The Railing (柵 Saku) is added to your Logic. Head over to the stand, on the right side of the floor, and talk to Karin and Dr. Young. They ask about Kay, before going home. Walk back towards the cherry tree. You hear some leaves rustling, followed by a scream. So this is where Kay was hiding... She had the same idea as you - she came here to try and get her memories back.

An announcement appears on the TV about the police's search for Kay. Examine it. It's showing a live view of the tower from a helicopter, with rolling coverage of the investigation on the 50th floor (the P.I.C. meeting room). Highlight the illuminated 50th floor or the blacked-out floor above the illuminated floor, and deduce from your Grand Tower Pamphlet (ビッグタワーのパンフレット) that, if there is another floor between the viewing platform and the P.I.C. meeting room, this must be a hidden 51st floor. You receive the Is there a floor 51? logic (51階がある? Gojūichi-kai ga aru?).

Talk to Kay:

  • Memories (記憶 Kioku): As the person in the red coat was walking towards Kay, she saw the moon over their shoulder. It was in the same place as it is now: to the left of the tower, above the cherry tree. You receive the Moon logic (月 Tsuki).
  • Recollections (思い出したこと Omoide shita koto): Much like that defence attorney's assistant, Kay likes burgers.
  • Kay Faraday (一条 美雲 Ichijō Mikumo): She still doesn't remember anything about being a "Great Thief".

Go to your Logic, and connect the Moon (月) to the Railing (柵). The positions of the moon and the person in the red raincoat don't match up, so it's likely Kay's memories are confused. You receive the Where Kay fell? logic (美雲の落ちた場所 Mikumo no ochita basho). Connect this to Where Kay was standing? (美雲の立っていた場所). Kay couldn't have fallen over the railing, yet she's certain she was standing under the cherry tree. Was there something else she could have fallen into?

Examine the tree again, and examine the hatch to the lower left to receive the Fell down the hatch? logic (ハッチに落ちた? Hacchi ni ochita?). Connect it to Is there a floor 51? (51階がある?). Since nobody knows about the mysterious 51st floor, it must be impossible to access it normally. Maybe the hatch leads to the 51st floor? Edgeworth opens up the hatch, and finds a full-looking storeroom under it. This must be where Kay fell to. You decide to wrap up your investigation of the viewing platform, and check out the storeroom in the hidden 51st floor.

Before you can go down the hatch, you are greeted by Ema Skye (宝月 茜 (ほうづき あかね) Hōdzuki Akane), a forensics-obsessed high school student who was involved in two of Edgeworth's past cases. She was talking to Detective Gumshoe, and decided to check out the crime scene herself. She has lots of questions for Edgeworth, but with the police on the hunt, it's too dangerous to stay on the viewing platform much longer. You decide to continue the conversation once you go down to the 51st floor.
