Nigerian plantain porridge is a very popular Nigerian recipe. Most people prepare plantain porridge using unripe plantain, but this recipe uses ripe plantain. As a result, the steps are somewhat different.

- Onion
- Red bell pepper
- Palm oil
- Red onion, sliced
- Turkey tail (optional)
- Fish (optional)
- Assorted beef (optional)
- Pepper
- Ground crayfish
- Seasoning cube
- Curry powder
- Ripe plantain, diced
- Salt

Procedure[edit | edit source]
- Blend the onion and red bell pepper in a blender until smooth.
- Heat some palm oil in a pot. Add the sliced red onion, and fry until the onion loses its color.
- Add turkey tail, fish, assorted meat, pepper, salt, crayfish, seasoning cube, and curry powder. Stir well.
- Add the onion-pepper paste. Stir, and cook for about 20 minutes.
- Add the diced plantain, and cover with water. Cook for about 30 minutes. The plantain should break down and form a porridge.
- Season with salt to taste, and serve.
