Miyan yakuwa is a sour Nigerian soup made from roselle hibiscus leaves. It is consumed in northern Nigeria and served with tuwo or rice.
Ingredients

- Meat
- Maggi cubes
- Onions
- Fresh chile pepper
- Fresh tomato
- Garlic
- Ground peanuts
- Water
- Roselle (yakuwa) leaves
- Salt to taste.
Procedure
[edit | edit source]- Heat some vegetable oil in a pot. Add the meat, onions, and maggi cubes. Fry for a few minutes until the meat is browned.
- Blend the fresh peppers, tomatoes, and garlic to a paste. Add to the meat mixture, and cook for a few minutes.
- Add the ground peanuts. Add seasoning cubes, water, and sorrel leaves. Bring to a boil, then simmer for a few minutes.
- Adjust the seasoning to taste. Serve with rice or tuwo.
