Caprese salad is a delicious Italian dish made with tomato and Mozzarella cheese. It is quite simple but tastes great and looks attractive.
Ingredients[edit | edit source]
1 large serving or 2 regular servings:
- 1 medium tomato
- A few basil leaves
- about ¾ the weight of Mozzarella cheese as the tomato, sliced
- olive oil
- balsamic vinegar
- Italian seasoning or oregano and pepper (optional)
Procedure[edit | edit source]
- Cut the tomato into about 5 slices. Make a horizontal slit through each slice.
- Insert a few basil leave into the slit in each tomato slice.
- Put a slice of mozzarella cheese on top of each tomato slice.
- Sprinkle herbs over each slice.
- Drizzle some vinegar and olive oil on top. Do not mix the vinegar and olive oil.
- Eat fresh. Enjoy!
