Bengali–Assamese (বাংলা–অসমীয়া লিপি) or Eastern Nagari (পূর্বী নাগরী/পূৰ্বী নাগৰী) is a writing system used to write Bengali, Assamese and Meitei (Manipuri). It is also used by smaller languages like Bishnupriya Manipuri, Chakma, Kamta, Santali etc. The purpose of this book is to understand a writing system used by several languages in Eastern South Asia. While it may not be easy to understand the script, this book attempts to represent the script as simply as possible.
