To preserve edit histories and observe the attribution requirements of the licenses, content from our sister projects should be imported rather than simply pasted into a new module. Wikibooks administrators and importers can import pages from any of the English-language projects, Simple English Wikibooks, Meta, and Wikispecies.

Requests to import can be made to help in making or expanding a book, and to move works from other projects that fit Wikibooks' scope. Place requests below and an administrator will try to perform the import promptly.

Note that administrators are not responsible for moving and cleaning up pages. Please watch this page for when the import is complete and take care of the imported page.

Administrators and importers: To import a page, go to Special:Import. After import, add {{dewikify}} to the page and make a note where the imported page has ended up. Pages will by default import into Transwiki:Page's name.

Where non-free media is required in a book, editors may request an administrator or uploader to upload the file by making a request below. Please provide the non-free media rationale.

Pages with extremely long edit histories may fail to import. In this case, a single revision which gives attribution to the source wiki will be imported. While this isn't ideal, it should satisfy our licensing. Note that repeated attempts to import may eventually bring over the history, so if it fails on the first attempt, you might want to try it a few more times. Please see bug 15000 (and vote for it to get it resolved sooner).

Import and Merge [edit]

Use this section for imports that need to be "history-merged" with a module that has already been started using copy-paste.

Add requests using the form:

Some linguistics topics [edit]

Would it be possible to either transwiki some linguistics articles from Wikipedia and then do a history merge with articles that articles that are stubs? Or else just delete those articles and bring in the WP articles? (I'll note which of these I'm the only contributor, or where the article before I came along had no more than two sentences.) Specifically:

Also:

I'm not ignoring this request... getting a full history in from WP is very hit and miss as 95% of the time the import generates an error or timeout. Given you want a history merge following import, there's no point in importing a single revision, hence the delay QU TalkQu 12:18, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

Simple Imports [edit]

Use this section for simple imports that you are willing to wait for before working on the content.

w:Porting OpenSource to OpenVMS [edit]

New user trying to contribute started this up over at Wikipedia, when it's really a better fit here. Article has been nominated for deletion over at Wikipedia, so please import it promptly. Thanks. Grandmartin11 (discusscontribs) 20:10, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

So how do we get this set up as a book in the wikibooks name space? By the way the title should be "Porting Open Source to OpenVMS". BillPedersen 23 April 2013

You move it to the name you want. I have moved it now to Porting Open Source to OpenVMS QuiteUnusual (discusscontribs) 13:21, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

w:Wikipedia:How to Create an ATmega168 Basic Stamp [edit]

Per w:Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:How to Create an ATmega168 Basic Stamp. We have no idea if you guys want something like this, but it seems like a lot of work to just delete. (Whatever you decide, please notify w:User:Salvio giuliano so that he can delete the page on WP, or tag it for {{db-xfd}} speedy deletion if he's unavailable.) Thanks, and I apologize for me and my fellow Wikipedians' cluelessness about Wikibooks. PinkAmpersand (discusscontribs) 11:33, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
