In 2007, American Family Insurance worked with the Masie Consortium and 2B3D to create Settlement Plaza on the Masie Learning Island in Second Life. On Settlement Plaza was a 3-D storm-damaged house (with a tree that fell through the roof) which an insurance claims adjuster could use to learn about and practice skills for identifying damages that would need to be addressed in a claim settlement.
