Luzula subg. Luzula sect. Diprophyllatae
[edit | edit source]Luzula sect. Diprophyllatae Satake (1938) contains about 12 species worldwide. Only one of those, Luzula parviflora, has been collected in New York. The New York Flora Atlas currently lists this taxon only at the species level, naming ssp. melanocarpa as a synonym. But a number of recent sources, including Kirschner (2002), list fastigiata, melanocarpa and parviflora as acceped subspecies of L. parviflora. Of these, only ssp. melanocarpa has a range that includes New York.
