Miyan lalo is a jute leaf soup made commonly eaten by Hausa people of northern Nigeria. It is similar to the ewedu soup eaten amongst the Yoruba people.

  • Daddawa (fermented locust bean), pounded

Procedure[edit | edit source]

  1. Boil the meat in a pot with a little water, adding stock cube and grated onion for flavor.
  2. Blend together the pepper and chopped onion.
  3. To the pot of meat, add the jute leaves and kanwa. Cook for 5–10 minutes.
  4. Add the blended pepper mixture and locust bean. Cook for 2 minutes and serve.
