I like your new book about nuclear medicine, It's high-quality resources like this that are going to help make wikibooks an excellent resource for future generations of students. I just wanted to make a few quick notes to you. First, wikibooks generally frowns upon putting all sorts of personal information and biographical information on the module pages themselves. Basically, we can't guaruntee that other contributors won't come in and edit your personal information. Also, since the preface of the book is about you, I worry that perhaps it is in violation of policy here. Wikibooks modules need to maintain a "neutral point of view", and wikibooks can't be used as a personal advertisement vehicle. As such, I highly recommend that you move the biographical information that you have provided about yourself onto your own user page, or onto a talk module.

Done.

Wow, that was very quick. I hope i didn't come across as threatening or anything, I certainly didnt intend to. I mostly just wanted to spare your book from future complaints or problems. Like I said above, it is a particularly good book. Good luck in any future projects here, let me know if you need anything. --Whiteknight(talk) (projects) 02:15, 12 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Just learning the ropes, mate. Many thanks for the very useful feedback.

iWheels???

[edit source]

"Willy on Wheels" is the name of a vandal, who uses "sock puppet" accounts to move pages. He is very infamous, and we have been unable to stop him and his vandalism. Let me know which pages got moved, and I will move them back and fix the damage. --Whiteknight(talk) (projects) 16:24, 13 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image licenses

[edit source]

Could you add licenses to Image:NM3 11.gif and Image:NM7 16.gif. Thanks! --hagindaz 09:43, 29 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Licenses were added to these images by 2 different IP addresses. Was this you? --SB_Johnny | talk 15:03, 3 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Both images were generated by me. I can't remember which IP addresses I would have used. Sometimes I forget to log in. But my intention was to put the images into the public domain. marz 02:24, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the excerpt

[edit source]

Thank you for adding on to my project @ Introduction to Physical Science I may need to trim it in order to make it grade-level appropriate, but you've saved me a lot of typing, research, and sweat in general. I plan to remove the excerpt note, but your book will be sited as a source and your name will be added to the contributors list, feel free to contact me at my talk page or on one of the books talk pages at any time. I hope you will contribute to IPS again in the future. And if you have any other science-oriented friends, please invite them to join the project!

Very nice textbook. I have taken the liberty to link to it from our RadOnc textbook. So far it's mostly clinical, and the extent of our physics is minimal, so this will come in very handy! http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Radiation_Oncology/Physics Tdvorak 14:37, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please be aware that the text is very diagnostic focussed, with no explicit therapy references. Some of the basic physics might be useful, but there's no treatment of important (to oncology) topics such as Pair Production and MIRD. So, maybe it would be better to treat the link as an introduction to the physical aspects of diagnostic nucmed. I will place a link to your textbook if that's ok with you. marz 10:49, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:NM3 11.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikibooks because of copyright law (see Wikibooks' Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikibooks are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikibooks:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information or giving false information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Study help desk. Thank you. SB_Johnny | talk 10:31, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

thanks for this. I've added pd-self to Image:NM3 11.gif and Image:NM7 16.gif. Have you spotted any other images that need copyright statements? marz 00:28, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, Whitenight! I've uploaded new versions of these images (with copyright tags) and the files listed above can now be deleted. marz 22:14, 6 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Bot

[edit source]

I saw your comment about the bots on User talk:HDBot, and I think i can answer your questions. A "bot" is a program that is either automatic or semi-automatic, that is capable of making changes to the database. If we have a program that can send HTTP messages to the server, just like your webbrowser does, we can make the same kinds of edits from that program that we can from a web browser. Some bots can make edits to pages (like my bot), some bots can just read the pages and post alerts (double-redirects, pages that arent categorized, images without licenses, etc), and some bots can make bigger changes like moving or deleting changes. If you have any other questions, just let me know. --Whiteknight (talk) (projects) 18:08, 23 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image license issues

In the future, please be sure to tag all your uploads with appropriate license information before it becomes an issue. As well, you can use KieranMaher (unlicensed) to find images which you have uploaded that are untagged or unlicensed. As well, I replied on my talk page. German translation

[edit source]

As you might have realized, a german translation of your book is being worked out. Many people have already been working on it for a long time. As usual we do our best, but cant give any guarantee for it's quality. As we partly need the same images I've dislocated some to commons, so the wikimedia projects can save capacity. Even if you don't know any german you might want to have a look on your german edition: http://de.wikibooks.org/wiki/Physikalische_Grundlagen_der_Nuklearmedizin

I can see you are upset, but equally you can't rescind the license (and therefore just remove) the content from the book. If you want the book deleted, please request it at WB:RFD and don't just delete all the pages like this. I've blocked you to stop you until a discussion is held. Following your action to change my reviewer status, I have now decided never again to contribute to wikibooks. Many sections of the wiki book are now out of date and irrelevant - a bit of an embarrassment for you guys really! marz (discusscontribs) 03:37, 29 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Now I find I can't even edit my own details until after the 4th June. You're behaviour. is that of a autocrat, QuiteUnusual. Next week I will delete all references to myself from this out-of-date book - and its out-of-date companion. And as a result will have no further association with yourself and your autocratic ilk. marz (discusscontribs) 06:18, 29 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
I personally think that @QuiteUnusual: did the right thing, especially considering that it was not your first time. You can still contribute fully without reviewer - the only difference is that your edits will need to be reviewed, and you won't be able to rollback or check others' edits.
Having a "nervous breakdown" does not change the situation - you would be better off taking a short wikibreak rather than doing something you shouldn't. Leaderboard (discusscontribs) 06:19, 29 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

QuiteUnusual You need to realise that I had hoped to re-write the two books - to bring them up to date. Decline reason:

I am declining your request for unblock because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that
  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikibooks, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and

Hi I'm an administrator here, see Wikibooks:Administrators. I think the message is fairly clear. To be unblocked you need to convince an administrator you will no longer damage or disrupt Wikibooks. Until you can convince an administrator that this is the case you will remain blocked. Your comments here have not convinced me that this is the case. --Jules (Mrjulesd) 12:11, 29 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Whilst coming down from anaesthesia following a hospital procedure recently, I realise that my actions may have caused extra work for certain administrators, e.g. QuiteUnusual, Leaderboard, someone else and miromax(???). I found each of their actions to be way beyond acceptable behaviour. I never received a warning, just a straight out penalty. Bang! Please be aware that these administrators don't follow normal decency conventions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KieranMaher (talkcontribs)

Regarding your email

[edit source]

I had indicated when reverting your deletion that you are not supposed to remove stuff from your talk page when blocked, yet you repeated your action. This was the main reason I had to revoke your talk page access.

Regarding your general comments, I didn't respond to them mainly because I was waiting for QuiteUnusual to comment on your case. But "I never received a warning, just a straight out penalty.", QuiteUnusual did it because (to me at least) you were literally removing content from pages without explanation, which is a serious problem that would warrant a block for anyone, plus it was not the first time you were doing it. The latter was specifically why your reviewer permission was removed. Also, note that blocks are meant to prevent Wikibooks from damage, and if you supply a valid unblock reason/reason on why you were removing content, you should be (and have been) unblocked. If you can commit to not removing content and making an unnecessary scene from your talk page while you are blocked, I'll restore the ability to edit your talk page (you are free to archive this once unblocked). QuiteUnusual's question was meaningful, and all I'm seeing is, unfortunately, a fuss from you instead of a rational explanation which would be far more helpful. Also, regarding why "I can't even edit my own details", that is because a sitewise block prevents editing any page under than (usually) the talk page - the reason editing your own "details" (which I take to be your userpage) is not allowed is because spammers generally use their userpage to spam for services and was not targeted at you. Leaderboard (discusscontribs) 07:06, 30 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Per what everyone else has said. I blocked you to prevent any further content removals until you had explained what you were doing. That's exactly what a block is for. I removed your review permission to stop you being able to use rollback. If you had just answered the question and agreed to a more rational approach than just deleting everything then I'd have unblocked. Right now based on the cross wiki personal attacks and threats to vandalise I'm inclined to make it a permanent block. QuiteUnusual (discusscontribs) 16:44, 30 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Note that everyone else equals three persons. Note that I received no warning message from you as I went through my meltdown. Note that I did not receive any specific warning from leaderbox re my reply on this page. Note that I have made no personal attacks and threats to vandalise. And yes, my friend, you are welcome to go down in history as the person who prevented the principal author (and only author in many chapters, and designer of virtually all the figures and graphs and tables) from editing his free-gratis contributions - over many, many years. And also an enthusiastic wikipedia foundation financial supporter. Go ahead with your bullying threat - I'll raise a glass of whiskey in praise of your actions - and vow never ever have anything to do with this wikibooks effort again. Please delete my name and contact details from the relevant pages - you've prevented me from doing this. I want to dis-associate myself totally. 194.193.170.251 (discuss) 00:30, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Regarding your second email, I will note that I did implicitly warn you with my edit summary, and even then you were making a scene on the talk page, which is grounds for revoking talk page access as per the blocking policy. Again, I should remind you that I am willing to restore talk page access should you commit to not removing content from pages and making an unnecessary scene. Per your last email, I have now restored your talk page access and you should be able to edit this page. Yes, like that. You need to provide a reason, as the template asks you to. And use that to explain clearly, as I noted above, what went wrong (like you explained to me in your last email). Leaderboard (discusscontribs) 09:04, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

The reason is simple: I was coming off a general anaesthetic and didn't know what I was doing. The responses I received from all the admins have left me at the end of my tether. Feeling utterly bullied to the core. I feel like never ever doing anything on wikibooks ever ever ever again marz (discusscontribs) 09:12, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
OK, I understand that meltdowns happens to people from time to time and that's why QuiteUnusual blocked you temporarily - to prevent damaging the project when, as you said, you didn't know what you were doing. It was not meant to punish you. That being said, I don't know what mistakes us admins did. All that QuiteUnusual asked you was what you were doing. It seems to me that you did not know what you were doing, which I can understand considering your hospital situation. All that we wanted was to understand why you did what you did. None of us knew that you were in a serious condition.
Please be careful though. If you are ever in such a situation where you feel tempted to have a meltdown, my advice would be to take a short wikibreak (that is, a break from this site). Trust me, it does wonders. Some mistakes (such as these) can be reversed, others are harder to, and I don't want you in a situation where you make a meltdown with irreversible consequences - that'd be bad for all of us. Contrary to what you may think, none of us like blocking users for any reason. We had no intention to bully anyone. I hope this is clear to you. Leaderboard (discusscontribs) 09:22, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
But you did bully from my perspective - please admit it - its plain for all to see in the above discussion. In addition, I think QuiteUnusual's actions were carried out without my receipt of any of his concerns. Maybe its delays in the e-mail system - and we got our wires crossed???? marz (discusscontribs) 09:26, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, I don't understand how I bullied anyone - all I did was revoke your talk page access which I had to because you were making unwanted comments on the talk page. It wasn't something that I wanted to do, but I just didn't have a choice. And once you gave an explanation, I allowed you to edit your talk page again.
Also, "I think QuiteUnusual's actions were carried out without my receipt of any of his concerns" - did you send an email to QuiteUnusual? Possible that he didn't see your email, but I don't know because I can't see what you sent to him (if at all you did that). Leaderboard (discusscontribs) 09:32, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Again, I am not questioning that you have mitigating circumstances. But what I am saying is that having such conditions does not give you a licence to do what you did - us admins need to be fair to all and are unable to consider your case any differently to another user who did the same thing you did. With the conditions you have, I would take a break if I were you. Leaderboard (discusscontribs) 10:08, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

This all stretches the bounds of credibility. Having had a major operation and anaesthesia you decided to logon to Wikibooks, delete lots of content intending to refactor a book and when asked to explain yourself claim it was all done without meaning to? Despite your illness you then found the time and energy to argue with three admins here, take your campaign to Wikipedia getting a block there, email serveral users and the foundation? Then claim that your campaign against various editors here is acceptable but them trying to stop you damaging the contents here is bullying? You are the one engaging in bullying. I'm not interested if you are telling the truth about why this happened, just in preventing further disruption. To that end I strongly suggest you desist from any further harassment and stop trying to argue you are in the right because everyone can see you are the one causing the problem. When the block expires if you can return to productive editing you'll be welcome. QuiteUnusual (discusscontribs) 16:03, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Billinghurst - sorry for giving you work to do. It resulted coz of my ignorance about the scope of Commons. But i could find no other way of uploading on wikibooks. Sorry, again. It won't happen again. I try every day to be a decent person to everyone. marz (discusscontribs) 08:04, 1 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Note that numerous figures, images and graphs uploaded by marz have the text "Reproduced with permission from Heggie JCP, Liddell NA & Maher KP, 2001, Applied Imaging Technology, 4th Edition" associated with them. I advise that the copyright for these figures has now become questionable because the permission to reproduce has now been revoked. marz 194.193.147.246 (discuss) 05:28, 6 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Billinghurst: This may be relevant for you, but I don't think CC-BY copyright can be revoked if it's in Commons. Leaderboard (discusscontribs) 07:50, 6 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
