Application of the Virial Equations[edit | edit source]

2 forms of virial expansion are infinite series.

  1. Z=1+B^' P+C^' P^2+D^('P^3 )+⋯
  2. Z=1+B/V+C/V^2 +D/V^3 +…
  • B^'= B/RT
  • C^'=(C-B^2)/〖(RT)〗^2
  • D^'= (D-3BC+2B^3)/〖(RT)〗^3

When we derive the relations, set Z = PV/RT and solve for P.
