On 22nd of July 2010 was launch of the Gold Coast Football Club brand with the announcement of the new nickname (The Suns), logo, club song and three new home, away and clash guernseys. A mascot and team colours were revealed in conjunction with the local community. The colours of red and yellow were chosen to reflect the sun present on the coast. The predominant colour of red was chosen to represent the team/sun within the home game jumper. The design of the away and clash jumper was developed to represent the short history of the club but allow for a sense of something building with the depiction of the building surf or wave, represented as white.
