Introduction[edit | edit source]

Proteolytic processing in the broad sense means a protein or a protein complexing processing another protein or protein complex to modify its activity. This processing may lead of activation, inhibition or modulation of the protein activity. Much of the cellular processes are triggered by proteolytic processing. Proteolytic processing is the major part of post translational modification of a protein to make a functional protein complex.
