This text is divided into two types of immigration, temporary and permanent. Temporary immigration consists of all categories of people who enter Canada on a temporary basis, be it a tourist, a visitor, a student, or a temporary worker. Certain types of temporary immigrants are able to extend their visits indefinitely which can effectively make them almost permanent. Permanent immigration, however, are those who would like to settle in Canada and take advantage of government services. This includes those seeking permanent residency or citizenship.
