History[edit | edit source]

The Fisher Price iXL video game console was released in 2010.[1] The system retailed for $79.99 in 2010.[2]

By February of 2011 the price of the system dropped to $60.[3]

The system was discontinued in 2012.[1]

Technology[edit | edit source]

Hardware[edit | edit source]

A 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) TFT LCD was built into the system.[1] The resolution of this screen was listed as "QVGA",[1] meaning a resolution of 320 pixels by 240 pixels.[3] The screen supported touch input.[4]

Storage could be expanded with an SD card slot.[1]

Power[edit | edit source]

The system was powered by 4 AA batteries.[1] The battery compartment was protected with a screw.[3]

Software[edit | edit source]

The system was intended to be used in conjunction with a either a Mac OSX computer or Microsoft Windows PC, which was required for console management.[1][3] The New York Times described this software as being like iTunes.[5]

The system could be used as an MP3 player.[6]
