History[edit | edit source]

Development[edit | edit source]

A cloud gaming service for Samsung smart televisions running the Tizen operating system was announced on October 26th, 2021 during Samsung Developer Conference 2021.[1][2][3] The announcement coincided with some other other gaming technology announcements from Samsung.[4] A major effort was made to improve the developer experience for the platform.[5]

In January 2022 during CES 2022 the system was announced more formally as the Samsung Gaming Hub.[6][7]

Technology[edit | edit source]

Tizen itself is an operating system based on the Linux kernel.[8]

The system acted as a gateway to other services, such as Utomik, GeForce Now, and Google Stadia.[9][7]

On June 9, 2022 it was announced that Samsung Smart TVs would also support Xbox Game Pass cloud gaming.[10]
