History[edit | edit source]

Announcement[edit | edit source]

The console was announced around early July, 2022, with a stated release date of Q3 2024.[1][2] Around the time of the initial announcement, it was reported that preorders via NFT were opened,[3] though it was also reported that preorders would not be accepted till a prototype had been made.[4] There were initially 10,000 pre-order consoles planned for production.[5] The announcement was met by skepticism by much of the gaming press.[6][7][1]

The logo of the Polium One was noted for a similarity to the logo of the Nintendo GameCube.[8] Because of this the company announced that their logo would be redesigned.[9]

Technology[edit | edit source]

Hardware[edit | edit source]

A number of media outlets doubted claims that the consoles stated specs of playing 8K ray-traced games at 120 frames per second.[8][6] A custom NVIDIA SOC containing a CPU and GPU was claimed to be used by the system.[7][1]

The controller was said to feature a built in speaker.[10]

Software[edit | edit source]

The console claimed to be oriented around "Web 3" gaming, orienting the system around NFTs.[1]

Linux was announced as a software project being used by the console.[11]
