1958 to 1973[edit | edit source]

Only 3 of these bush fire seasons were potentially serious and though large numbers of bush fires occurred none reached a major bush fire. During the 1964-65 bush fire season there were 140 outbreaks.[1]

The 1960-61 Fire Season was a comparatively mild one, however it was necessary for a Total Fire Ban to be imposed from 7 to 9 February 1961. 33 fires attended by Bush Fire Council units, 13 were caused by children.[2]
