Portobello mushrooms are large mushrooms that can be prepared as a vegetarian entrée. They can substitute for hamburger patties, or be eaten alone.

Ingredients[edit | edit source]

Simple Grilling Preparation[edit | edit source]

  1. Remove stems from the mushrooms, wash and dry.
  2. Brush with olive oil.
  3. Grill for about 10 minutes, alternating sides, until both sides are grill-marked.

When cooking on a barbecue mixing the oil with a water based liquid (e.g. balsamic vinegar) will cause the fire to flare more and give the food more flavour, baste them as they cook. Adding other flavours such as garlic and chilli works well. If you are in a hurry, just use vinaigrette dressing.
