Masochism refers to the tendency to derive pleasure from one's own pain or humiliation. This can manifest in a variety of ways, including sexual activities that involve pain or submission, or non-sexual behaviors such as self-injury or humiliation. Masochism is often considered a part of BDSM (bondage, discipline, dominance/submission, and sadomasochism), although not all individuals who engage in BDSM activities identify as masochists. It's important to note that masochistic activities should always be consensual, safe, and carried out with informed consent from all parties involved.
