Description: Pente is unlike a lot of n in row games in that it also involves capturing pieces

Aim: to get five of ones pieces in a row OR to capture 5 sets of opponent pieces

Rules: During their turn, a player places a stone of their color onto the board. If the stone is horizontally, vertically or diagonally adjecent to an opponent's stone and is opposite of a corresponding stone, the opponent's stone is captured.

Gameplay: White moves first (unlike Gomoku and Renju), and players alternate turns.

Variations of Pente[edit | edit source]

Pente+/-

When a player captures a set of pieces, they may choose to add this to their set of captured pieces or subtract the capture from their opponent's set of captures.
