Using GNOME/What is GNOME

GNOME is a desktop designed for GNU/Linux, but also works on other platforms (see Supported Platforms). It is designed to be usable, accessible, Free (see Free Software) and internationalized. For more on GNOME see about GNOME.
The word GNOME is an acronym for GNU Network Object Modeling Environment, and is written in all capital letters. GNOME is pronounced "Guh-'nome," as it is part of the GNU project.
