I'm a South African physiotherapist teaching at a university in Cape Town. I'm interested in the use of emerging online and mobile technologies to change teaching and learning practice at an undergraduate level, which is the focus of my doctoral thesis. I'm also interested in the role that content licenses play in the distribution of content and believe strongly in an academic / knowledge commons where content is available for educational use without restrictive licensing. I completed my Masters degree at the University of the Western Cape in 2008 where I looked at the use of Information and Communication Technology as means of supporting physiotherapy students.

I graduated from the University of the Western Cape in 2001 with a BSc. (Physiotherapy) degree and began traveling immediately after graduating. I spent two years moving between Cape Town, London and San Francisco before settling in Ireland for a year and a half. This is where I completed my basic grade rotations in two rural hospitals, moving between acute medical and surgical departments, respiratory and intensive care, orthopaedics and outpatients. After that I moved to England where I spent two and half years doing community work in the National Health Service.
