[edit] Adverbs

Normally, the adverbs in Urdu are indeclinable. However, when present and past participles are used as adverbs, they must be declined like adjectives to agree with the number and gender of the subject. But when long-a ending adjectives are used as adverbs, the standard usage is that they must not be declined.

Pre-adjectives (adverbs that qualify adjectives and adverbs) are sometimes treated as a separate category. Such common words include /bohot/ (very), /zyadaa/ (much), /kuch/ (a little), etc.
