[edit] Lyrics
[edit] Tagalog
Bahay kubo, kahit munti
Ang halaman doon, ay sari sari
Singkamas at talong, sigarilyas at mani
Sitaw, bataw, patani.
Kundol, patola, upo't kalabasa
At saka mayroon pang labanos, mustasa,
Sibuyas, kamatis, bawang at luya
Sa paligid-ligid ay puno ng linga.
[edit] English translation
Nipa hut*, even though it is small
The plants it houses are varied
Turnip and eggplant, winged bean and peanut
String bean, hyacinth bean, lima bean.
Wax gourd, luffa, white squash and pumpkin,
And there is also radish, mustard,
Onion, tomato, garlic, and ginger
And all around are sesame seeds.
[edit] Explanation
Bahay Kubo is usually sung by Students in the Philippines at an early age so that they can Memorize the Vegetables. Singing the English translation is ridiculous, use this link to practice singing it [1] and you would be surprised by this one, Foreigners singing the song, [2] as you can see many Filipinos say that the pronounciation is wrong on the Second video, well nevermind lets move on. This rhyme song will be helpful for you memorizing the Vegetables, for Indonesians and Malays you might notice that Talong and Bawang sounds familiar and Yes, Talong is a loanword from Malay derived from Tarong and Bawang is the same as Bawang. This is the version of the song that I made to make it easier to Pronounce.
