Square root is the invert function of power. Example: $\sqrt{16}\ = 4, 4^2 = 16, \sqrt{16}\ = 16^{1/2}$ , where $\sqrt{4^2}\ = 4$ So in general: $\sqrt{x}\ = x^{1/2}, \sqrt[n]{x^n}=x$
