Templates (or skins) are the set of directory and files (icons, .html and .css). definition of the way the mambo-interface - that is your site, explained in normal terms - will look. They are highly configurable, and can be used in many different ways.

The templates are acting exactly the same as a skins. The templates are predefined looks (designs), which make mambo look a certain way (color patterns, icons for navigation, etc...). The templates do not control the behavior, though, as in other systems that use templates - it is a look-only definition.

Explained very simply, a template is a HTML/CSS document that has code in it which makes it compatible with mambo. For example, there are code for loading the modules of a certain position, there are code to load the main body (main content) and so on.
