One demarcates questions in Klingon either by using the suffix 'a' or any of various "question words" (analagous to who, when, where, etc.).

[edit] Vocabulary

Da- prefix: Subject you object it, he, or she

Deb: Desert (n.)

[edit] 'a'

One uses this Type 9 verb suffix to ask about whether the subject of the sentence does the action to which 'a' is appended.

Example:

Dalegh'a'

Do you see it?

[edit] Question words

  • chay
how
  • ghorgh
when
  • nuq
what
  • nuqDaq
where
  • qatlh
why
  • 'ar
how many, how much
  • 'Iv
who

Question words are used directly in place of what is in question, i.e. nuqDaq yIt, which means "Where does he/she/it walk?", means more literally "He walks at what?" (An answer to this question might be DebDaq yIt (He/she/it walks at a desert), if the particular person walking lived in a desert ("Deb")).
