English Japanese Reading Notes
、 (comma) 読点 とうてん Used to indicate the connection of more than one sentence. Also called 点 (てん= dot).
。 (full stop) 句点 くてん Used to indicate the end of a sentence. Also called 丸 (まる= circle)

Middle dot. Functions as a list separator in a sentence. Comma is not used to list items in a sentence.
「」 鉤括弧 かぎカッコ Japanese quotation mark. Similar to double quotation in English.
『』 二重カッコ にじゅうカッコ Similar to single quotation in English.
【】 すみつきカッコ Used to bracket different types of headings
〔〕 きっこうカッコ Used for comments in quotes.
〈〉 山カッコ やまカッコ A comment bracket.
《》 二重山カッコ にじゅうやまカッコ A comment bracket for comments within another comment bracket set.
