Many Hebrew words are based on three letter roots.

אבד[edit]

אבד -- to perish, to go astray, root

אכל[edit]

אכל -- eat, root
לֶאֱכֹל -- to eat transliteration le-'e-khol
הוּא אוֹכֵל -- he eats transliteration hu o-khel
אֲנִי אוֹכֶלֶת -- I (feminine) eat transliteration a-ni o-khe-let
אָכַלְנו -- we (masculine/mixed) ate transliteration a-khal-nu

גמר -- to finish, conclude, root

ספק -- to feed, root

צבה -- to swell, root

פרח -- to blossom, root

צדק -- to be just or righteous, root

קדש -- holy, root

ראש -- head or first, root

רוח -- spirit, wind, root

שבת -- to cease, stop, rest from work (strike), root


שלם[edit]

שלם -- whole, complete, root
שְׁלֵמוּת -- wholeness, completeness transliteration s'lay-moot
מְשֻׁלָּם -- paid transliteration m'shoo-lam
שָׁלוֹם -- peace transliteration shalom

שפח -- to join, root

תרם -- contribute or donate, root
