To run zdoom you need one of these files:

You should be able to find some of these in a folder that contains Doom, Doom2, Ultimate Doom, Final Doom, Hexen, or Heretic. If you do not have any of these then you should look for the shareware version of Doom (version 1.9) and put doom1.wad into the zdoom directory.

You need at least one of these files to run zdoom: (doom.wad, doom1.wad, doom2.wad, tnt.wad, plutonia.wad, heretic1.wad, heretic.wad, hexen.wad, hexen2.wad)
