Hawthorn is a plant in the rose family. The berries, young leaves, and buds of various species are edible and used in a range of cuisines. The berries range in color from yellow to red to black, and they can be used fresh or dried.

Various edible hawthorn species are distributed worldwide, and they have various traditional uses. Commercially-available hawthorn products in the USA and Europe are often derived from Crataegus monogyna or Crataegus laevigata.
