Caldo de peixe is a traditional Cape Verdean soup that still holds a special place among the Islanders. Depending on personal preferences, additional ingredients can be incorporated, and the dish can be served with condiments of choice.

Procedure[edit | edit source]

  1. Bring a medium pot of water to a boil. Add the white and sweet potatoes. Boil for approximately 15 minutes or until they are partially cooked. Drain.
  2. Heat some oil over low heat in a separate pot. Add the onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes. Cook until softened.
  3. Add the fish, and continue sautéing.
  4. Add the drained potatoes, and add enough water to make a soup. Simmer until the fish and potatoes are fully cooked.
  5. Add the parsley and scallions, and serve.
