Sicilian Defence, Dragon Variation

[edit | edit source]

White now has the option of attempting to castle on the queen side, or to castle on the king side. A queen side castle will lead to temporary safety away from black's developed pieces on the kingside. A king side castle will cause both sides to simultaneously attack and defend on the cramped king side of the board.

Regardless of white's decision, black will likely castle on the following move.
