Buddha was born in the Terai (low lands) of Nepal. He was born a prince and his real name was Siddhartha Gautam. He was thought to be extremely intelligent from the time of his birth. He was thought to walk seven steps, sometime after his birth.it is also according to popular belief that Gautama Buddha was the tenth Avatar of Lord Vishnu.
