Apples are among the most familiar fruits, with a long history of cultivation. This book is about the cultivars of apples (some 7,500 are known to exist).
This book will consist of pages for each apple variety, with information about the qualities and uses of the fruits, as well as technical information about growing them (such as compatible pollenators and rootstocks). Additional chapters will discuss rootstocks and interstocks
The construction of this book will be coordinated in part on Wikiversity, as a project of Topic:Pomiculture. Initially, cultivar profiles will be imported from Wikipedia (see List of apple cultivars). Outreach to argicultural groups and orchardists will be coordinated on Wikiversity.
