Kokang, formally the First Special Region, is a region of Myanmar. It is located in the northern part of Shan State, with the Salween River to its west, and it borders with China's Yunnan Province in the east. Its area is around 10,000 square kilometers. The capital is Laukkai. Most of the population of Kokang is Kokang people, a Han Chinese group living in Myanmar.
