The Great Barrier Reef is a natural reef system off the north-east coast of Queensland, Australia. The reef is a collection of living organisms which consist of 2,900 reefs and 900 islands stretching for over 2,400 kilometres. The Great Barrier Reef can be seen from Space. It has been a World Heritage Site since 1981.

The site is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Australia.
