White Sweet Clover
(Melilotus alba)
Sweet White Clover
Description:
White sweet clover is another plant that was brought to North America from Europe to be grown as a pasture crop. Its sweet smell becomes even stronger when the plant is dried. This plant produces a very large number of seeds which can then take over in many types of habitats. When it does this, it crowds out native species of plants, so scientists call it an invasive alien. Invasive because it takes over where ever it grows. Alien because it is not native to North America.

Quick Facts:
White Sweet Clover is the preferred flower for beekeepers as the honey that bees make from its nectar is particularly good.
