Wikibooks:Naming conventions (technical restrictions)

From Wikibooks, open books for an open world

Article titles that cannot be named correctly due to software limitations may be set using the {{Displaytitle}} template.

Excluded characters

[edit source]

The following characters are not allowed in page titles:

# + < > [ ] | { }

The forwared slash, "/" is allowed, but not as the first character. Slashes in page titles, delimit sub-pages. Should the page "A" exist, then the page "A/B" will be a sub-page of "A" with the title "B".

Lowercase first letter

[edit source]

The first character of book titles is forced to lower case. Sub-pages may begin with either case. This may be fixed in the future.

Namespaces

[edit source]

A book name cannot coincide with a namespace (such as "Wikibooks:", or "Help:").
