Web Analytics for wikibooks[edit source]
How about a web analytics capability for wikibooks that gathers information about page views, geographical information, bounce rate etc. of visitor of books? It appears to be a useful addition to the toolbox of wikibookians. Everyone will be able to see the traffic hitting books, which will indicate its popularity. If Wikibooks provides this capability then external web analytics are not necessary, eliminating the possibility of loading arbitrary javascripts. ---- Sutambe 02:13, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Can someone make up a template for including Google scripts? Details are at http://www.google.com/analytics/en-GB/#utm_source=en_gb-ha-uk-google_brand_goog_analytics&utm_medium=ha&utm_campaign=en_gb&utm_term=google%20analytics. Here is a run down of how it is done on the web page (an account is also needed): https://www.google.com/support/googleanalytics/bin/bin/static.py?page=troubleshooter.cs&problem=tracking . Perhaps the template could include a variable account (ie: substitute for "UA-XXXXX-X") to allow anyone to track events within a Wikibook page. RobinH 10:28, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- Wikipedia now has a way of collecting page views. It doesn't use Analytics which I think is good. More info here and results can be found at http://stats.grok.se/ ChessCreator (talk) 17:43, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
