From Wikibooks, open books for an open world

Hi.

Brief personal introduction: I am involved in academia, education, and community work.

What brings me here?

I am am extremely interested in the idea of creating a virtual home for open-source annotated texts, a home where readers could create their own commentaries, introductions, critical apparatus, or any other aids for reading and study that might be interesting and helpful.

I strongly feel that such a project should be a separate project from Wikibooks. There is a fundamental difference between creating a school textbook, where the text is primarily a means for presenting the topic, versus a primary text where the text itself is at the center of attention.

But meanwhile the annotated texts are here, and I'd be happy to help contribute what I can to them.

(By the way, yes, I have read the discussion about "Project Sourceberg.")
